What it does
Q&A Knowledge Base gives your Confluence a place where people ask questions and the right people answer them. Questions and answers are real Confluence content, so spaces, permissions and search work the way your team expects.
You decide, by group, who may ask, who may answer and who moderates, for the whole site or per space. Search reads titles and the full text of questions and answers, and suggests earlier questions while you type a new one.
Ask, answer, vote, accept
Rich text with code blocks and lists, comments, up and down votes (one per person, none on your own post) and one accepted answer that moves to the top. Status is clear: unanswered, answered, solved, closed or duplicate.
Roles you control
Different groups for asking, answering and moderating, set for the whole site and overridden per space. Administrators always keep full control. Guests and anonymous users see nothing.
Search that reads everything
Titles, question text and answers. "Already asked?" shows similar earlier questions before you post.
Keep the queue clean
An unanswered queue, tags with counts, and moderation: edit, close with a reason, mark as a duplicate of another question, reopen, delete.
Q&A where people work
A Q&A page for the whole site, one per space, and a macro that embeds a filtered list (space, tag, status, sort) on any page.
Your data goes in and out
CSV import with a preview that shows problems by line, and a CSV export you can import elsewhere. The documentation maps Questions for Confluence data to the CSV columns.
Runs on Atlassian
Q&A Knowledge Base is built only on Atlassian Forge. It makes no calls to outside servers, and your data stays in Atlassian: in Confluence itself and in Forge storage on your site. That makes it eligible for Atlassian's Runs on Atlassian program.
Good to know
- The app sends no email. Watching works in an inbox inside the app, and @mentions are Confluence mentions.
- Confluence's own search box may not list Q&A content (a known Atlassian issue, CONFCLOUD-84122). The app has its own search that does.
- Posts cannot contain images or attachments yet. Links, code, lists and quotes work.
- A single export holds up to 2,000 questions, and comments are not part of the file. Export one space at a time for more.
- Imported posts are created by the person who runs the import. Original author, date and votes are kept and shown.
- Confluence Cloud only. Data Center is not supported.
Data and security
Q&A Knowledge Base runs entirely on Atlassian. Questions, answers and comments are stored by Confluence itself, the rest in Forge storage on your site. It makes no calls to outside servers. The security page lists what is stored, for how long and which permissions are needed. The privacy policy and the EULA are public.
