Provider: Karelia Labs, Sweden ("Provider")
Version / date: 1.0 / 2026-10-18
Extension: Karelia Translate for Flarum 2 ("Extension")
By installing, subscribing to or using the Extension the person or organisation that subscribes to it ("Customer") agrees to this Agreement. If you accept it on behalf of an organisation you confirm that you may bind it.
1. Definitions
- Community: a Flarum forum that the Customer owns or manages.
- Floxum: the marketplace at floxum.com, through which the Extension is licensed and paid for.
- Subscription: the Customer's licence for the Extension, bought or trialled through Floxum, on the plan the Customer chose (non-profit or for-profit use).
- Translation Service: the third-party or self-hosted service that the Customer configures to translate text, such as DeepL, Google Cloud Translation, Anthropic, an OpenAI-compatible service, a local model or LibreTranslate.
2. Licence
2.1 Subject to this Agreement and a valid Subscription (or trial) the Provider grants the Customer a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable right to install and use the Extension on any number of Communities, for the Subscription term and within the use allowed by the plan bought.
2.2 A Customer who hosts forums for clients needs a Subscription for each client, as Floxum's terms for premium extensions require.
2.3 The Extension is licensed, not sold. The Provider keeps all rights in the Extension not expressly granted. The translation files in the locale/ folder are licensed under the MIT license.
3. Restrictions
The Customer shall not (a) sell, share, sublicense or publish the Extension or any part of it, modified or not; (b) remove the licence notice; (c) provide the Extension to third parties as part of a hosting service except as section 2.2 allows; (d) use the Extension unlawfully or to infringe others' rights; (e) use it for for-profit purposes on a non-profit plan.
4. Fees, taxes and payment
Fees are set out on the Extension's Floxum page and are charged and collected through Floxum and its payment provider under Floxum's terms. Taxes, refunds, invoices and renewal are governed by Floxum's terms. The Provider may change prices for future periods as Floxum allows.
Fees charged by a Translation Service are separate. They are agreed between the Customer and that service and paid by the Customer. The Provider does not charge for translations and is not responsible for a Translation Service's fees, including fees caused by the Customer's settings or by use of the Customer's forum.
5. Trial
A trial gives full functionality for the trial period shown on Floxum. After it ends, a Subscription is needed to keep using the Extension.
6. Support and updates
6.1 The Provider provides support through the support portal or by email at support@karelialabs.atlassian.net. The Provider aims to answer requests about errors that stop the Extension from working within 2 business days and other requests within 5 business days, during Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00 Central European Time.
6.2 The Provider releases updates through Floxum and aims to support each new Flarum version within four weeks of its release. Updates may change or remove features; the Provider will not materially reduce the core functionality during a paid term without notice.
7. Customer data and privacy
7.1 The Extension runs on the Customer's own server. The Provider does not receive or have access to the Customer's forum data, posts or API keys. How the Extension handles personal data is described in the Privacy Policy (https://ziroxonline111.github.io/karelia-labs/products/karelia-translate/privacy/), which forms part of this Agreement.
7.2 When a reader asks for a translation, the Extension sends the text of the post to the Translation Service the Customer chose. The Customer is responsible for choosing that service, for having an agreement with it that covers this processing, for informing the forum's members where required, and for deciding which groups may translate.
7.3 The Customer can delete the Extension's stored data as described in the Privacy Policy.
8. Translations
Translations are produced by the Translation Service, not by the Provider. Machine translation can be inaccurate, incomplete or change the meaning of a text. Every translation is shown under the original with the name of the service that made it, and the original remains the authoritative text. The Customer is responsible for how translations are used on its Communities.
9. Intellectual property and feedback
The Provider owns the Extension and its documentation. The Customer and its members own their content. The Customer grants the Provider a free, perpetual licence to use feedback and suggestions about the Extension without obligation.
10. Third-party components and services
The Extension runs on Flarum and uses open source components under their own licences, including the official Anthropic PHP SDK. Translation Services are provided by third parties under their own terms, and their availability, quality and prices are outside the Provider's control.
11. Warranty disclaimer
To the extent permitted by law the Extension is provided "as is" and "as available". The Provider gives no warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that translations are correct. The Customer should keep backups of its forum.
12. Limitation of liability
12.1 To the extent permitted by law the Provider is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damage, loss of profit, revenue, data or goodwill, or for charges from Translation Services.
12.2 The Provider's total liability under this Agreement is limited to the fees the Customer paid for the Extension in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.
12.3 Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for intent or gross negligence.
13. Term and termination
13.1 This Agreement runs while the Subscription is active.
13.2 Either party may terminate for the other's material breach that is not remedied within 30 days of notice. On termination or when the Subscription ends, the Customer must stop using the Extension and remove it.
13.3 Sections 3, 4 (second paragraph), 8 to 12 and 14 to 16 survive termination.
14. Changes to this Agreement
The Provider may update this Agreement for future use by publishing a new version and announcing it in the changelog or on Floxum. Continued use after the effective date means acceptance.
15. Governing law and disputes
This Agreement is governed by Swedish law, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes are decided by the courts of Sweden, with Stockholm District Court (Stockholms tingsrätt) as court of first instance. Mandatory consumer protection rules of the Customer's country of residence still apply.
16. General
The Agreement is the entire agreement about the Extension and replaces earlier understandings, without affecting Floxum's terms for the purchase. If a provision is invalid the rest stays in force. The Customer may not assign the Agreement without the Provider's written consent; the Provider may assign it to a successor of the business. Notices are given by email to the addresses in the Floxum records. Each party complies with applicable export and sanctions laws.
